Global Perspectives in Film
Global Perspectives in Film was established as a working group in 2024.
It brings together filmmakers and practitioners in cultural film and educational work. At the heart of their mission is the question: How can a diverse and inclusive approach to film work be realized when films produced in Germany are predominantly shaped by a Eurocentric perspective?
The aim is to ensure that the production and distribution of outstanding films on global issues—both for theatrical release and non-commercial use—receive appropriate support from public film funding institutions. At the same time, we aim to strengthen the commissioning of films by public broadcasters so that they fully meet their programming mandate in this area.
